Reptiles are quite extraordinary

Reptiles are truly amazing creatures. There are a great variety of reptiles; some are dangerous and others are harmless.

Reptiles are cold blooded, which means that their body temperatures vary from where they are, therefore, they can survive in all environments. Reptiles have scales instead of skin to make them waterproof. All reptiles lay eggs to protect their young.

Snakes have special type of scales under them called scutes. Scutes are the scales that make it possible for snakes to slither on the ground. Another type of reptile namely the chameleon has a tongue that is two and a half times longer than its own body size. The top shell is called the caropus and the bottom shell is called the plasdrawn. Tortoises’ shells protect their vulnerable bodies from predators.

As you can see reptiles are quite extraordinary animals.
